The Importance of Manufacturing in India's Economic Growth

India as an economy has a lot of population dependent on agriculture. Agriculture produces only about 20% of India's gross value added or another measure of GDP, the national income. The way to solve this problem is to pull people out of agriculture and for that you need a sector which can absorb that excess labor capacity. In India's case manufacturing provides a better avenue because it can soak up the kind of labor which is lacking in soft skills.
