Introduction

In 1948, President Singman re-declared a national emergency in South Korea. This campaign kicked up a guerrilla war in the South that culminated in an uprising on Jeju Island. By the end of this violence, as many as 100,000 people were dead. The Korean War was only months away. In this episode, we'll look at these uprisings in the South, the war before the war. We'll also take stock of one very important development for everyone involved here - the success of the Chinese Communists.
