The Dangers of Maps

If you look at old maps, they tend to basically just be of coastlines and rivers. And if you go back in time, even further, the oldest maps were not even trying to capture anything real when it comes to geography. They were being used as a message to position a particular culture in the world. What's really interesting here is that we know from historical evidence that the Babylonians were very, very aware of the existence of other cultures outside of their own.
