Hawking said for a while that particles would come out and have no memory of their earlier configuration, the information that they carried would be lost. But he was ultimately convinced by string theorists and others that that was wrong. The particles will come out and they do carry the imprint of the fact that they were once a chair. If you measure the particles appropriately, you could reconstruct the chair when those particles come out. That's now an IKEA chair. Jack, I love that new theater.
