Is It the Same With Hedge Funds as Well?
I've always regarded selling something which you don't own as sort of fundamentally flaky. I think shorting introduces all sorts of emotional pressures which makes people very short term act in a counter reasonable way. The fees are just too high if you charge two and twenty then it is very difficult for more than a fraction of the hedge fund universe to produce a decent result with the exception of a few.
