The Difference Between Collective and Corporate Approaches to Groups

Think about an eight of tribe, maybe an Indian tribe in North America or an Aboriginal group. You could think about such groups in two ways. If you thought of them as collectors,. if you thought about groups on the collective conception of the group - what's important for the individual members is the benefits that they gain from their membership. This is what makes the group valuable. On the corporate conception something very important is lost. Someone who took a very strong view about the value of the group might even say there is some obligation on the part of the members of that group to sustain it.
