Introduction

David is a philosopher at n y u and also at the australian national university. He was instrumental in turning my mind toward philosophy and science. We spent most of our time talking about consciousness, what it is and why it is so difficult to understand scientifically. And we talk about artificial intelligence and the possibility that the universe is a simulation. But i would urge you not to be misled here. I think all these topics will be more and more relevant in the coming years as we build devices which, if they not in fact, conscious, will seem conscious to us.
