The polyvagal theory is based on the idea that there are different levels of arousal. When we're in fight or flight mode, our body produces so much adrenaline and cortisol it doesn't know what to do. This can cause irritability, anger, frustration,. crying, again, stomping, slamming doors. If you have a kiddo who becomes very overly emotional when they're upset as well, that's that hyper arousal reaction. Too much sleeping is often a sign of a stress response. We either eat too much because we're trying to sell soothe or make ourselves feel better with food. Or we're not eating enough because we're not attending to those social issues that eating
