Grief as a Way of Loving
Love is a way of grieving that which has not yet slipped from view. Grieve is a ways of loving that which is already done so. I can remember a teacher saying to me early on maybe we were together maybe 20 years and he said very quietly, one of you will die. And I had never considered that until that moment it had never entered my mind that devastating thought that grievous thought that one day one of us would die. We would be separate from one another one day again, again, separate again,. separate again, separated again,separated again. That sounds a little formulaic but that's what I mean.
