The chinese have some significant short comings when it comes to espionage. The ar stealing western defense and commercial secrets, harassing chinese dicidents overseas and even bugging the headquarters of the african union. China didn't seem to have made any contingency plans to evacuate its citizens during the russian invasion of ukraine. Its embassyhad advised them to make it obvious to others that the were chinese. Suggested they should put a chinese flag in a prominent position on their cars. And then retracted that advice and told them they shouldn't display any identifying symbols.
