The Future of DBS and Parkinson's Disease
Current treatment for Parkinson's disease is to insert a big stimulating electrode into one of their basal ganglia structures and to stimulate. Medtronic, I think has a vision for trying to add some smarts. They've sort of identified that this is the next generation of DBS needs to be closed loop. So in order to do that, we need something where we can read out neural activity rapidly, decode it, and modulate our stimulation rights.
