BBC World Service listener Christina from Georgia asks Sophie about the title of her novel. Did you mean it to be cleansing rather than purge? I don't actually know all the different shades of these words in English, she says. The original title in Finnish is Borkwuristus - which can refer to ethical cleansing or Stalin's purchase.
