The Importance of Appreciation and Wonder
Lewis: It's really a question of like, are you willing to let this inform and update your opinions or your attitudes or help you to see things better. And that is a way to determine whether something is good literature or bad literature or good music or bad music. Well, and two, it also explains why when we hear people just rave about a movie or an novel or even a forest preserve, you get your expectations up. And so you come with pre-established assumptions and almost inevitably you're let down.
