The Loss of Energy in the Universe
The expansion of universe slowly takes away energy from everything moving most notably with the red shifting of light. So on a cosmological scale, energy is slowly being sapped away from the energy. We're losing energy from the photons, but that's because it's going into a higher potential energy as the universe expands. That's just creative accounting.
