The Dream of the Red Chan by Al Ding
I haven't read another book like this that, i think was written in chinese. It reminded me of some books i've read out of eastern europe at the turn of the century. Al is also very well known as the scholar of honomon the dream of the red chan all right. He really wants to present a picture of the entirety of society through very specific portraits of people in one very specific neighbourhood. So his latest novel, cauca and floating window, he has compared to the famous painting chingning shane to or along the river during the chingning festival.
