The Light of the Eldar

The Silmarillion ends with a tone of finality about the whole oath of Feanor and the Silmariles. And that's why it bothered me so much. They're writing this, they're trying to bring a general audience. What do we know about the light of the Eldar? Well, there's the scene when Elrond says to Arwen, the light ofthe Eldar is leaving you. That's similar. I didn't pick up on that.
