Introduction
This is the remarkable story of a man known to history as Nicholas Said. He was born Muhammad al-Binsaid in a central West African kingdom. Then he arrived in Russia, where he changed his religion from Islam to Eastern Orthodox and took the name of the Tsar himself. It's one of the more remarkable life stories that I've ever come across. Very lucky to talk to Dean Calbraith, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who has spent 10 years researching it.
