In 1978, Peter Nygaard expanded his business from Canada to the United States. He did this by again investing in an existing company, a sportswear designer run by Nancy Ebker. She claims he agreed to split profits 5050 and kick in $700,000 of her own money to finance the production of two new sportswear lines sold out of her showroom. According to Ebker, Nygert smooth talked her out of putting any of this agreement down in writing. As soon as the deal closed, Nygsor fired Ebker from her own company and took over the offices.
