Abu Hatim Razi was a member of early Shiite Islam called the Ismaelis. Abu Hatim depicts Razi as a convinced opponent of all prophetic revelation. In his denial that God is unique in having the status of an eternal principle, you can certainly see why Abu Hatim and other authors wished he had stuck to medicine.
