Augustine's is self effacing in to the extent to which a he presents himself as having been driven by a lot of conflicting desires. He cheats that games, steals from his parents and pairs along with an his friends. We threw him tothelo for the sake of disobeying. But, ah, human nature is rebellious. Augustine had a lot of these things, and he thinks he's still subject to these temptations. Partly to protect himself, but he offers to the road or the path or the community tham. He offers is, in principle, open to everyone. I think sonita talks about christianity is being platonist for the people.
