The Fuhrer never wanted a war with the United States and believed that the US could be brought around to supporting Nazi ideals. He got his conception of America through Karl May novels as a nation dominated by sober good-hearted German punchmasters. Other Europeans at the time also took May seriously as an expert on American culture That is wild I found this quote from a French newspaper reviewer condemning American values because of what Karl fucking May wrote about them.
