English borrows a lot of its pronouns from Norse words. The Vikings were not looked on favorably when they pillaging in the eighth and ninth centuries. French borrowed highfalutin words for medicine, law like "judge" and "prison" These are everyday words about life that we used to interact with each other.

Language changes, and that's not a bad thing!
