The Hierarchical Versus Organic Thing
I'm still wondering about this like hierarchical versus organic thing. Most of those probably develop organically and instances where that is not done like Catholic church and indulgences, like it doesn't last. And even if something is imposed from above, it doesn't stick around unless the people can appropriate it or change its meaning.
