Test Tube Babies

The concept of tobes is invoked because it it sounds futuristic. It's almost as if it's being written about by someone who didn't, maybe didn't even know what was actually involved. On the haldeman level, i think it works perfectly as this idea that the military a industrial complex ends up absorbing reproduction itself. But yet also hearkens to a time when there were a certain amount of fear mongering and even moral panic about the idea of test tobe babies.
