Every three years, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers negotiates a new contract with the Writers Guild of America. But this year, talks began and ended acrimoniously because of how streaming in particular has upended business models and working conditions. The Writers Guild voted to strike if negotiations failed and on May 2nd, hours after their contract expired, that's exactly what they did.
