Are Energy Prices Increasing Inflation Expectations?
I think there's a pretty strong base case that inflation comes down next year. We have a strong dollar we have lower commodity prices, you know energy prices are much lower now than what they had been in the summer for example. So if those trends continue,. You know that does suggest that we should see some moderation and inflation. Core headline PCE reading around 3% next year would not be unreasonable. But I'd say that there's some chance that inflation couldn't come down more quickly if some of the rent issues we talked about.
