The National Shame of Mass Shootings
I tend to think of these mass shootings as being more like terrorist attacks than a typical act of street violence, and so it just feels fundamentally different. So unless we all want to live in a fully locked down military state, it's unlikely that putting guards at some schools is going to be the solution here. How many murders were there in America's best we could count the last year for which we have good statistics? Oh, I have no idea off the top of my head.
