"I used to try to escape my family by going and listening to records and playing in them," he says. "My favorite album as a kid growing up was Outland of St. Moore by the police" The drummer's mother is an alcoholic who moved him into government-subsidized housing with her single mom. He got his first drum set from a motorcycle gang guy across the hall at Toys R Us when he was three.
