Slavery in the New World

Long distance travel enabled large numbers of people from one major racial group to end up as the slaves of people of another major racial group. This was something new in human history. Blacks were not enslaved because they were but because they were available at the time. Slavery was legal under british law in all o f the original 13 american colonies. And that remained the case until the revolutionary war.
