Australia is seen as very much on that Western side of the argument over Ukraine. Most countries in ASEAN and South East Asian States are non-aligned. Does that then complicate your relations with them? It does. And one way to mitigate that risk is for Australia to invest much more in Southeast Asia, in the Pacific where they have a slightly different view from us.
