The Disappearance of Political Economy

There's still huge reticence in incorporating politics into economics and most economists find it very difficult to think about politics. But for us, these big questions about development, politics seem to be so central you couldn't possibly think about this just from an economic point of view. It's very interesting that like behavioral economics, for example, fits more easily into it than political economy because behavioral economics at the end of the day, you can still do kind of welfare economics but it's not sort of subvert the whole paradigm in a way that politics does.
