Cryptomonoid Algae

cryptomonoid algae started out as free swimming predatory cells. At some point, they gained the ability to photosyntheticize by engulfing not a bacterium, but an entire plant cell in the form of red algae. All cryptomonoids have got four different genomes. They've got their main genome and their cell nucleus. But then you add the extra three of the two endosymbiotic bacteria and the virus and you've got seven in total. That's absolutely extraordinary mixture here going on.
