Introduction
On the seals are the names of nehemiah, the governor. Nehemiah and zedekiah made a firm covenant in writing to make their sins forgiven. In chapter ten we have the list of the people who were signatories to it. We also take on ourselves the obligation to give yearly a third part of shekel for the service of the house of our god. And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the s Sabbath or on a holy day. For it is the levites who collect the tithes in all our towns where we labour. After the long prayer
