In 1953, May published Man's Surge for himself, in which he explores these problems that are perhaps more relevant than ever in our modern age. People may well know what they should do to study, get a job, fall in love, marry and raise a family, but it is soon evident,. even to them, that they are describing what others expect of them, rather what they themselves want.
