Every week end i send out a few interesting links, articles and sources that i've been reading. Here is the best bit taken from richard crawley's translation of thucydides. It sums up the athenian spirit of community and sense of the common good. We cultivate refinement without extravagance and knowledge withoute nacy. Wealth we employ more for use than for show. And place the real disgrace of poverty not in owning to the fact, but in declining the struggle against it.
