The Bartleby story is a Melville short story about Wall Street and working being the guys like a copy, a copyist or it's called a scrivener. The story is told not from Bartleby's perspective, but from his like middle manager type boss who he gets asked to do things in the office. And eventually he's just like, I prefer not to and he won't do anything that he's told.
