Dahl's Negative Experiences With Adults
In his autobiography, boy, Dahl recounts one story from when he was just eight years old. He describes the mean and loathsome Mrs Pratchett as an old hag who never smiled. The boys decided to take their revenge by sneaking a dead mouse into her jar of sweets. But they soon received a shock themselves when they discovered she was at school. She had made sure that they would receive the cane - used to punish children for bad behaviour. And Dahl's negative experiences with adults have clearly left their mark on his work.
