In the last decade over $100 billion have been invested into self-driving cars. In 2012 Sergei Brin, Google's co-founder told an audience that he expected driverless cars to be here by 2017. There were almost 400 crashes involving autonomous car technology in the 10-month span from July 21 to spring 22. Six of those crashes were fatal and others caused serious injuries.
