When we were living in these tribes, they think that human language evolved in order to spread gossip and because gossip helps us cooperate with each other. But what was happening in social media is that as soon as you open Twitter, it is, you are awash with moral outrage. And so there's almost no escape from this kind of moral outrage. So the values that I thought defined my team, which is the left-wing team, are being sort of trampled on," he says.
