The Existential Risk of AI in the Economy

I think some of the bad habits that led people to be very enthusiastic about socialism 70 years ago, I think some of those same intellectual habits really are contributing to the people overestimating how powerful these AI systems could become. So yeah, I really see these debates as related. This is the second point I alluded to earlier. The second one is that AI may actually add more complexity to the economy, right? We may have even more sophisticated processes of production and things that we value. It's not clear to me that AI would actually simplify matters. It might also add more complexity. Yeah, absolutely.
