areas was trying to be a sort of Platonist philosopher, forcing the distinction between the one and the noose. That once again, he was deficient in that spiritual quality that strictly biblically based reflection on God should lead you to. And again, this was perfectly present and beats areas handily in the biblical tradition in Alexandria. So why he should be so thoroughly un-Alexandrian is puzzling.
