The Problem With Statins and Cholesterol Synthesis

Statins inhibit cholesterol synthesis in virtually any cell they can get into. The brain only has one source of the very necessary amount of cholesterol it has and it's a de novo synthesis. Brain if it makes a cholesterol molecule holds onto it for a long, long time. Most of the brain cholesterol is made in utero and in early infancy when the brain is virtually exploding in its growth.
