The Importance of Understanding Scientific Papers
When you're looking through scientific papers, you get most of your information from the abstract. And this is why we don't use single studies as the basis of any conclusions in science. So I could read this one paper by Stockwell, it's all the meta analysis. Our objective was to determine whether misclassifying former and occasional drinkers as abstainers underlie observed positive health outcomes for low-volume drinkers. But typically, you only do that for a small fraction of papers, or you'll get bogged down and lost.
