Christ has broken the power that sin held over us and made us to live for his glory. So why do we still struggle with sin? Well i don't think there's a simple answer to this, but look at what theologian dietrich von haffer says in his book, cause of discipleship. Is there some part of your life where you are consciously resisting or disobeying the commandment of jesus? Would it be possible that the main resistance to spiritual growth does not come from the outside, but is on the inside? Because we don't know what will happen if we relinquish all to him.
