The Crucifixion of the Cross

The writer takes the cross and places the suffering of the cross within something larger than the suffe. Jesus is crucified, he's beaten, mockd tortured, he's humiliated, he's executed as an enemy of the state. But throughout the story, jesus keeps telling his followers he's headed to jerusalem ecause jerusalem is the centre of the whole thing. Everything in his first century world was stacked on top of each other,. religion, military, might, economics, what you would call government. All of it was like one giant, we might say, harball.
