We're working on machine learning versions of this predictive coding algorithm that do very well in various tasks, and have some biological plausibility. I'm really thinking of these other algritms that have been trained on billions and billions of data points. What these algrams dos is amazing. But back to your point, t does deep blue know that it's playing chess? No. Even an algorithm that is very good at language and deep faking is good at those things.
