The Morality of the Overall Disinformation Campaign

Bill More: I can't judge richard dody's heart or anybody else's. The government should not be lying to a large number of american citizens without a very, very good reason. It is not obvious to me why such a disinformation campaign would be necessary in this case. How common is this kind of campaign? Do you think similar operations are happening right now?
