New Orleans - The Greatest Disaster in History
More than 80% of New Orleans population fled the city for a higher ground. Hundreds of thousands more from neighboring parishes also hit the road. Hospitals were exempt from the evacuation if it wasn't feasible and for most it wasn't. The city's poorest residents, tens of thousands of people, did not have cars or any other method of personal transportation.
