Oaxaca

60% of the people in Oaxaca still speak a language other than Spanish at home. So it's a very culturally rich state. I had a chance when I was there to meet a Zapotec weaver and he invited me out to some of the places we'll talk about later in the valley. He showed me how to make the natural red dye from the Cochinil which is the the bugs that they find on cactus that make a deep red dye. It was fascinating.
