They had fully developed human brains and knew that they were being forced to be pawns or puppets for the Q. Mantelopes would eventually develop sentience over several generations. Hand flabbers turned into heavy stumps, although their lower lip grew into something similar to an elephant trunk that could be used as a hand. Striders stood tall above trees like mobile skyscrapers but died out after 100,000 years due to brittle skeletal structures.
